6 years ago my then 15 year old son was diganosed with bone cancer. 2 years later he past away. I really never had much trouble sleeping until my son and got sick but since he was diganosed I have had insomnia. I also work from 7p.m. intil 7:30a.m. for the last 11 years, and no I can not change my schedule due to my senority and I have to work. Sometimes I go 2 or 3 days with no sleep at all and then I will sleep hard for maybe 5 or 6 hours to awake and start the whole process over again. I take 100 mg serquel and 10 mg ambiem, this is whats prescribed me, but I still stay awake quiet often after taking it. I must admit I have taken 3mg lunesta along with my serquel and ambiem and then I sleep hard maybe 5 to 6 hours but this can't be good or my dr would have prescribed all 3 for me at the same time. I'm so tired of being tired all the time and not knowing when I will get a full night of rest. Please offer any advice? My dr wants me to see a sleep specialist next month but to be honest I am scard to death he will take all my sleep meds away and then I would lose my mind if what he has to offer doesn't work, then where would I be. I should also add that I do sleep walk as well but this is something I have done my whole life not just recently. I don't do it often, at least I don't think I do but every once in awhile I do find something that tells me I have been outside my home during my sleep.

i am very sorry to hear about your son and i am new to this sleep education but not to sleep deprivation.  they prescibed you seriqeul for sleep i dont know about that one but you dont want to devolpe a tollerance to those kind of drugs than you have to take more to relax and up the dosage have you tried meditation or marijuana something along the line of none heavy drugs. sometimes i too dont sleep for a couple of days i just dont understand it i do know that i get tired and my body feels extra heavy but my mind will not allow me to sleep as a result i then get to goto work be more tired and still come home to feel miserable and not be able fall asleep. but really sometime marijuana helps me stop thinking and sleep

Oh I am very sorry for your loss Kaysmail. I think you are very dependent on that drug now and stopping that will cause you withdrawal symptoms. Why not try going to a sleep disorder clinic so that you won't get sick because of lack of sleep.

Its really very sad to hear that but, I think you need to be very careful, I know its very painful but you have to think about yourself and other people who are attached to you. we cant forget all the things but we can live with good memories and make things positive. I will suggest you to take some relaxation methods that will worth for you and gives you sound sleep.

Thanks
